I often find I go to make a recipe, and see hoisin sauce on the ingredients list. Yet it is never something I have in the house. Come to think of it, I can’t remember ever seeing hoisin sauce in a shop, at least not one that isn’t full of added sugar. This recipe is really easy to make, and you will likely have all the ingredients right there in your house already. It’s perfect for quickly whipping up a batch to add to any recipe that requires it. Plus, it has no added sugar in at all; instead, we use honey for sweetening.
I use crunchy peanut butter, just because I love the texture that the chunks of peanut bring to a recipe, but you can use smooth if you prefer. Bear in mind also that if you are using chunky peanut butter, it is a little harder to mix in. Your sauce may look a little lumpy, but if you are adding it to another dish this doesn’t matter at all – just mix the sauce as best you can.
So if you are looking to make a super quick and easy batch of hoisin sauce in under 5 minutes, go ahead and follow the recipe below!
